Designer’s Notes: I have always believed in GIRL POWER!!  When I was little, my momma taught me that girls can do anything boys can do only BETTER!!   Girls (and boys who respect girls) are the answer to a better world. I love the African proverb  “Educate a boy and you educate an individual, educate a girl and you educate a village.”

Designer’s Notes:  I love scorpions, as they are tiny but tough.  Look closely at this piece and you will see a heart has replaced the scorpion’s stinger.  When I get my feelings hurt or someone makes me angry, I try to remember this scorpion and to ‘kill them with kindness” rather than lashing out with something negative as that only makes matters worse.  The school bully is only the school bully because they are not getting the love and attention they need.  So I tell my kids you have to be extra nice to the mean people because they are not getting enough love. They’re always shocked at how quickly the mean person starts treating them nicely.  Wear this and make it all better with LOVE!

Designers Notes: Recovery is hard. This piece is a great reminder to be gentle on yourself and take it slowly, one day at a time. Sometimes getting well involves taking two steps forward and one step back and that is okay. Keep moving forward. With each new day brings new opportunity to heal and renew.

Ubuntu is an African philosophy which when translated means ”I am what I am because of who we all are.” According to Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a person with Ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, based from a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
